Jean and Evelyn's Fudge Squares - Yum!

I got this old family recipe from Kim Silverman who got it from her maternal grandmother. It pleased generations of young and old, and now it can delight you. (this is the one that we brought to the McGhie family Game Night)

Step One (beat ingredients together and set aside):
1 cup margarine
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
3 cups oatmeal

Step Two (melt filling mixture in saucepan):
6 oz semi sweet chocolate chips
6 oz milk chocolate chips
1 can Eagle Brand Milk
2 tbsp margarine
1/2 tsp salt (cut or eliminate)
1 cup nuts (optional)
2 tsp vanilla

Step Three
Grease a Pyrex pan (15 x 10 x 1) Spread 2/3 of
oatmeal mixture, pat down with approximately 1" lip.
Pour in melted chocolate mixture.
Dot top with remaining oatmeal mixture.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.

The recipe is a family recipe on my mother's
side. So we have her to thank.
Enjoy, Kim Silverman
